Copper Creek Farm About Us Gallery of Riders

Staff

CCF is a small stable owned and operated by Penny and Rick Friend.  Penny started her riding career as a child in southeastern Pennsylvania.  After moving up from a small pony to horses, she spent many years foxhunting.  She relocated to Arizona in her late teens and took up showing hunters.  Over the years she has had many successful show horses.  She started teaching riding in her twenties and from 1982 to 2000 she was the main riding instructor at Judson School in Paradise Valley.  Judson was a prestigous private boarding and day school that had a long tradition of offering quality riding instruction as part of its cirriculum.  Her duties included teaching kindergarten through 12th grade as well as the welfare of 20 to 30 school-owned horses.  After Judson closed in 2000, she and Rick set up Copper Creek Farm.

Location

CCF is centrally located in Scottsdale.  We're near the intersection of Hayden and Thunderbird Roads.

Lessons are scheduled so that there is never more than 4 riders at a time (usually 3 or less).  Mornings and early afternoons are available for home-schoolers as well as after-school afternoons and Saturdays for others.  Our lessons include instruction in grooming and saddling in addition to riding.

Boarding

Is available for those with their own pony or small horse.

It includes feeding and stall cleaning 3 times a day, turn-out, and blanketing.
